Cisco ISR4461/K9 Cisco 4000 Integrated Service Router Description

The Cisco ISR4461/K9 is a member of the Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Router (ISR) which revolutionizes WAN communications in the enterprise branch. The Cisco ISR4461/K9 is specifically designed to address the expanding demand for application-compliant   networking in distributed enterprise sites by introducing new degrees of integrated intelligent network capabilities and convergence to these places, which typically have few IT resources. However, they frequently also have an increasing requirement for direct communication through a variety of channels, such as Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) VPNs and the Internet, with both private data centers and public clouds. Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) serves as a resiliency complement to Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS), a Cisco cloud-based UC service.

The Cisco ISR4461/K9 is equipped with 4 onboard GE, 3 NIM slots, 1 ISC slot, 3 SM slots, 8 GB Flash Memory default, 2 GB DRAM default (data
plane), and 4 GB DRAM default (control plane). The Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Service Routers offer converged branch infrastructure and Cisco Software Defined WAN (SDWAN) software functionalities. These features serve as the foundation for the next generation of branch-office WAN systems and provide superior throughput.

Cisco Software Defined WAN:

Connecting users, devices, and branch office locations reliably and securely over various WAN transport links is made possible by the Cisco SDWAN suite of intelligent software services. For excellent application experiences, SDWAN-capable routers like the ISR 4000 dynamically route traffic across the "best" link based on the most recent application and network conditions. With more mission-critical business being conducted by your branches, you need to have tight control over the performance of your applications, bandwidth utilization, data protection, and the availability of your WAN links.

PoE:

The Cisco ISR4461/K9 supports multiple, diverse access links; T1/E1, T3/E3, Serial, xDSL, Gigabit, and Ten-Gigabit Ethernet while also supporting dual-integrated power supplies for backup. The Cisco 4000 series models also support an optional power supply capable of delivering additional PoE power to endpoints.

Performance Speed:

The Cisco ISR4461/K9 provides concurrent software services at speeds up to 2 Gbps, and a backplane design offers high-bandwidth module-to-module communication at speeds up to 10 Gbps. It also has an embedded SDWAN solution for establishing less expensive, business-class Internet connections. A remote performance-on-demand license update (without a hardware upgrade) can significantly reduce the cost of expanding the router's capacity.
